Statement

To me there is no creature more beautiful than the horse. From their large soulful eyes to the powerful and delicate lines of their bodies to the elegance in which they move, I have been inspired by the beauty of these exquisite animals for as long as I can remember.

Capturing the horse on paper and canvas has been something I have been doing since I was a child.

I work in several mediums, always with the desire to communicate the spirit and energy of my subjects through fine details.

Realism is my artistic goal. I want my subjects to look as though they will come to life and walk off the paper.

Biography

Although Maria draws and paints many different subjects, she is most recognized for her ability to capture the horse on paper. She has had a love for horses since she was a child growing up in New York State and she constantly attempts to capture their souls and bring them to life on paper.

Maria works in multiple mediums, but it is the pencil that she loves most. She often says she was born with a pencil in her hand, and she has honed that craft for many years. Taking in information and training from a variety of sources and combining it all into a self-taught style. She has expanded her skills and continues to grow under the mentorship of acclaimed artist, Krystii Melaine.

Maria creates her realistic pencil and colored pencil drawings on hot press watercolor panels and then protects them with a special clear coating so that they can be framed without glass.

Her work is exhibited in galleries in Arizona, Montana, and New Mexico and in museums and shows throughout the country.

She also happily accepts commission work.
